Cleanup River Bonet 2015

A group of us took on quite a cleanup job today!  On the beautiful River Bonet, downstream of Dromahair, there are a few natural blockages, fallen trees etc and with the flow of the river over time these areas are collection points for any rubbish and waste in the river.  This pollution is horrible but with the help of a versatile craft and intrepid volunteers... rubbish was cleared and collected.  Many thanks to our helpers, especially our singing 5 year old, her sister and our friend  Leo for the use of his trailer and Leitrim County Council who will help with the final sorting and disposal of the collected rubbish.   Please scroll down to the last photo to see just how beautiful this River is, with a little help !

A job well done, Adventure Gently and helpers

The River Bonet is an amazing little river, so beautiful and the stretch below Dromahair is often mirror calm, sheltered, lush and amazon like. We often spot, kingfishers, herons, yellow wagtail, fantastically coloured dragonflies, deer, pine martins and sometime even an otter! The Bonet flows into Lough Gill close to the Lake Isle of Innisfree and this is one of our favourite paddling routes.
